Most small teams in Dubai, Riyadh and Beirut pay for more social media marketing tools than they use. We have seen a two-person clinic pay for a scheduler, a design suite and two AI subscriptions while the channel that booked appointments was WhatsApp, which was free. This guide sorts the tools by the job they do, so you buy one tool per job and nothing else. Every price below was checked on the vendor's own pricing page on 20 September 2026; where a vendor hides the price inside the app, we say "free tier and paid plans" instead of guessing.
Key takeaways
- You need one tool per job, not one tool per platform.
- A one-person team can run everything on the free tiers of Meta Business Suite, Canva, CapCut, Claude or ChatGPT and the WhatsApp Business app, then pay for one scheduler when the free limits bite.
- In the Gulf, the DM inbox is the funnel. Treat WhatsApp as a marketing tool, not a support line.
- If you post promotional content for other businesses from the UAE, you need an Advertiser Permit before you need any software.
What social media marketing tools are
Social media marketing tools are software that helps you plan, create, publish, measure and respond to content on platforms such as Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn, Snapchat, Facebook and WhatsApp. Some are built by the platforms themselves (Meta Business Suite, Snapchat Ads Manager) and are free; others are third-party products with a free tier and paid plans. The right stack is the smallest set that covers every job for the platforms your customers actually use; when two tools overlap, pick one.
Planning and scheduling tools
1. Meta Business Suite
Meta Business Suite is the free platform Meta provides to manage Facebook, Instagram, Threads and WhatsApp from one place. According to Meta's help center, you can plan a content calendar, schedule posts, stories and reels, run A/B tests on content, read one inbox for your Facebook Page, Messenger, Instagram and WhatsApp Business account, and see insights. Its weakness is everything outside Meta: no TikTok, no LinkedIn, no Snapchat. We compared it head to head in Buffer vs Meta Business Suite.
2. Buffer
Buffer is the simplest cross-platform scheduler. On Buffer's pricing page the free plan connects up to 3 channels with 10 scheduled posts per channel; Essentials is $5 per channel per month (billed yearly at $60) with unlimited posts, an AI assistant and analytics; Team is $10 per channel per month with approval workflows. Per-channel pricing makes it right for a one-person team and wrong for ten client accounts. Buffer's site is offered in English and a handful of European languages, with no Arabic option.
3. Metricool
Metricool combines scheduling, analytics and competitor tracking in one dashboard, which is why agencies like it. The Metricool pricing page lists a free plan for 1 brand with 20 scheduled posts a month, 5 competitor profiles and 30 days of analytics; Starter runs from $20 a month for 5 brands to $36 for 10; Advanced runs from $53 a month for 15 brands to $210 for 50. The interface can be switched to English, Spanish, French, Portuguese and German, per Metricool's help center.
Design and video tools
4. Canva
Canva is where most non-designers make their feed posts, stories, carousels and ads. The Canva pricing page shows Free at US$0, Pro at US$120 a year for one person and Business at US$210 a year per person. Pro adds premium templates, AI features and a far larger library (141+ million stock assets against 4.7+ million on Free); Business adds what Canva calls enhanced brand management. For bilingual campaigns, Canva's Translate feature lists Arabic among its languages (Canva help center).
5. CapCut
CapCut is the short-video editor we see most often on Reels, TikTok and Snapchat in the region: captions, templates, background removal and auto-cut in a phone app. There is a free tier and paid plans; CapCut's help page says Pro pricing "can vary depending on your region, device, and available promotions," so check the price in your own app.
AI tools for social media: writing and ideation
6. Claude
We use Claude for the thinking part of social media: turning a content pillar into 20 post angles, rewriting a caption in three tones, drafting a month of hooks from a customer interview transcript. Claude's pricing page lists Free at $0, Pro at $20 a month ($17 on annual billing) and Max from $100 a month. The interface comes in eleven languages that do not yet include Arabic, but Claude's help center confirms you can chat in any language and it answers in the language you write in. Our guide to the top 10 AI tools every marketer should use goes deeper on prompts.
7. ChatGPT
ChatGPT covers the same writing jobs and adds image generation. On ChatGPT's pricing page the plans shown are Free at $0, Go at $6 a month, Plus at $20 a month and Pro from $100 a month, with image generation "limited and slower" on Free. Pick Claude or ChatGPT, not both, and give every draft a human pass for local references and Arabic idiom.
Analytics and listening tools
8. Brand24
Native analytics in Meta Business Suite and Metricool cover your own accounts; listening tracks what people say where you are not tagged. Brand24 monitors mentions across social media, news, blogs, forums, video platforms and podcasts, and its FAQ says it collects mentions in over 36 languages. Brand24's pricing starts at $249 a month for Individual ($199 on annual billing), then $349 for Team, $499 for Pro and $699 for Business, with a 14-day free trial. A restaurant group in Riyadh or a bank in Beirut needs this; a one-person business does not.
Community and DM tools, including WhatsApp Business
In Lebanon and the Gulf, the DM is where the sale happens. Meta's own Ramadan insights page reports that 94% of Ramadan shoppers feel more connected to a business through instant messaging and that 71% of consumers bought within two days of seeing creator content on Meta. Build the funnel so every post ends in a conversation.
9. WhatsApp Business app
The WhatsApp Business app is free on the App Store, lists Arabic among its languages, and gives you a business profile, a catalog with a cart, greeting and away messages, quick replies, labels and broadcasts (feature list). For most small businesses this is the whole CRM. Beyond it, the WhatsApp Business Platform (the API) charges per delivered template message by category and country: marketing messages are always charged, replies within the 24-hour window after a customer writes to you are free, and anyone arriving through a Click to WhatsApp ad opens a free 72-hour window (Meta developer docs).
10. Manychat
Manychat automates the comment-to-DM flow ("comment PRICE and we'll send it") on Instagram, Messenger, TikTok, WhatsApp, Telegram, email and SMS. Manychat's pricing is by Active Contacts per month: Free covers 25 contacts and 2 channels, Essential is $14 a month for 250, Pro is $29 a month for 2,500 with AI conversations and 3 channels, Business is $69 for 7,500 and Advanced is $139 for 25,000, excluding tax.
Ads tools
11. Meta Ads Manager
Meta Ads Manager is the free tool for creating, scheduling and measuring ads across Facebook, Instagram, Messenger and Audience Network, on desktop or mobile (Meta for Business). It is where you build the campaign, ad set and ad structure; the Boost button in Business Suite pushes a post to followers, it does not buy customers.
12. Snapchat Ads Manager
In Saudi Arabia, Snapchat is not optional. Snapchat's own resource page for Salla merchants states that you can reach 90% of people aged 13 to 34 in Saudi Arabia on Snapchat and that Snapchatters in KSA open the app nearly 50 times a day. Snapchat Ads Manager is the self-serve platform, and Snapchat currently offers ad credits to first-time advertisers (Snapchat for Business).

Best social media tools 2026: how to choose yours in six steps
- List the platforms your customers use, not the ones you like. For a Saudi consumer brand that usually means Snapchat and Instagram; in Lebanon, Instagram, Facebook and WhatsApp.
- Decide the language mix. Running English and Arabic doubles design and caption work, which changes which tools pay for themselves.
- Check your legal position before buying software. In the UAE, anyone who publishes advertising content on social media for others, paid or unpaid, needs an Advertiser Permit from the UAE Media Council. It is issued free for three years for citizens and residents, and people promoting their own products on their own accounts are exempt.
- Start on free tiers for one month, then pay for the wall you hit. Ten posts a channel ran out? Buffer Essentials. Replies out of control? Manychat Pro. Need premium templates? Canva Pro.
- Set up the funnel before scaling ads. Every ad and post should end in a WhatsApp or DM conversation with a greeting message and quick replies ready.
- Plan the year around Ramadan, back to school and national days. Use our content calendar template to block those weeks before you fill the rest.

- WhatsApp Business app as the CRM: free.
- First paid upgrade: Buffer Essentials at $5 per channel per month if you add TikTok or LinkedIn, or Canva Pro at US$120 a year.
Total: $0 to about $20 a month before ad spend.
For a small agency with five to ten clients
- Metricool Starter at $20 to $36 a month for 5 to 10 brands.
- Canva Business at US$210 a year per person, plus CapCut on every phone.
- Claude Pro at $20 a month per strategist.
- Manychat Pro at $29 a month per client that needs DM automation.
- Meta Ads Manager and Snapchat Ads Manager, with Brand24 from $249 a month only for the client whose reputation justifies it.
Total: about $100 to $150 a month before per-client add-ons and ad spend.
Mistakes to avoid
- Buying a scheduler before you have a content system. Pillars first, then software.
- Running WhatsApp from a personal number. You lose the catalog, labels and quick replies.
- Paying for two tools that do the same job. Buffer and Metricool. Claude and ChatGPT. Pick one.
- Boosting posts instead of building campaigns. Boosts skip objectives, audiences and placements; open Ads Manager.
